Background
The 2008 recession forced our client to shut down a large residential project before completion. Several years later, the client returned to the project and discovered the fire safety policy had changed, requiring hundreds of infrastructure updates — an enormous blow to the budget and a long extension to the already-delayed timeline.
Value Provided
The FD Fire Design team met with the jurisdiction and informed them that the equipment already installed on-site was adequate and would achieve the same level of fire protection. The jurisdiction concluded the existing meters could remain in place. Ultimately more efficient than what they had initially mandated, the jurisdiction approved the meters for use everywhere. News of the new code allowance discovered by FD Fire spread to nearby jurisdictions and other cities around the region.
